Clean Regency Romance: Never Silly Sophie (Sisters By Marriage Book 4) by Jessica Spencer
Starts with a listing of the chapters then the story. London 1817 and we find Sophie is taking a ride with Mrs. Bridget Hastings, her mother.
She is always being told she has no sense and is silly....her adopted sister Isabelle is the one most favored and is sent to special high class school while Sohpie attends a nunnery.
They traveled from India to London and Sophie has been told a lot of different stories about her father and step father and she learns her mother disowned her as street urchins were harassing her...
She escapes and lands in Duke Christopher's carriage and finds a corner to sleep til she's discovered the next morning and brought in front of Christopher. He takes her under care but she runs away and saves a little boy from a carriage running him over.
The Barringtons then take her under their care and give her food, clothing and a beautiful room to live in while tending to the little boy, in their gardens. She is then kidnapped as her mother had made a deal with Jeremy but Christopher comes to her rescue again.
She overhears others conversations and will keep her distance from Christopher as she fears she's not in the same class and others will look down on them...He knows he is smitten with her and tries to keep her safe from harm and others...
Lots of drama as it is the season and so much gossip leads to other tales....
Things get complicated and you wonder who is going to end up with who...
Enjoyed the book but wish there were explanations to some of the words, the dictionary couldn't find them.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

A delightful read all the way through! As advertised this is a clean book no bad words etc. Sweet Maria may be sweet but she is also very strong willed and is not conventional at all. Now this of course in the Regency Ton era is not good and could be scandalous but also for the sake of the book amusing as well. I have always read lots of regency novels but this is my first regency that I have read in a long time and I am glad that I went back to this genre. I love the interactions between Maria aka Milady and The Earl who Maria thinks is a commoner and there you have it mistaken identity, love and the hint of a scandal id the Ton finds out about Lady Maria and her other identity. There were a few sub plots in this book that were briefly touched upon that I found interesting. I think that Gwen was one of my favorite characters , Maria's childhood nurse/nanny and believe it or not I thought that the Duchess was an interesting character and maybe not as cold as she seems. I enjoyed reading this book, it had all of the romance and sparring between the two main characters that I always like in a romance book. This review was originally posted on Cindy's Book Binge … (mere)

Clean Regency Romance: No Longer Flighty Fanny (Sisters By Marriage Book 3) by Jessica Spencer
Like how she handles things and stays tough. She's married at the age of 15 as others take care of her, taking advantage of her.
The next years she's kept captive and there is danger all around her. She knows what she has to do but she's kidnapped ...
Like all the duties she performs to make the manor a big success-I can not even imagine more than 50 bedrooms in a house!
So many betray her. There are a lot of characters and the story sometimes gets confusing.
Love how she tries to talk her way out of the marriage and telling him how she's lost all her money...
Inventions and new fashions from US during the time frame-so cool to learn about them.
Other books in the series are summarized and exercerpted at the end.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Not Just Lovely Laura by Jessica Spencer
Starts out with Laura and her brother Garrett are young and she finds out her mother left to live with another and that she's not in the sky as a sky-because she's not dead.
Move forward then to her older teens and her brother is betrothed to be married to Maria. Laura meets her mother and is happy about it but very nervous. She attends her first ball and is comfortable with the events.
Astonished she has so many bouquets of flowers the next day from men who are thanking her for her time dancing with them.
Like discussions of hair and that she is able to spend time with Maria and she has a dream also. Love hearing of Maria's and how it's accomplished. Laura wants to help orphans who never had caring adults.
Garrrett's friend Duke Anthony is trying to spend time with her-she recalls when he spent time with them as young children.
Laura hopes to keep her secret to herself but others have noticed how different she's acting...
Loved how she stepped up to the child touching a gown for sale...We also learn about Laura's mother when she had first left her spouse. wow so misunderstood.
So many twists and turns, unpredictable events. great read!
