This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I thought this book was okay. I enjoyed the premise of the story but I think it needed more world and character building. I know it is a series so perhaps the author is just using this first book as a stepping stone to more and the other books in the series will have more to them.

The description of the book was extremely interesting but I could not get into the story. Sorry to say, I DNF'd at about 40%. I found the writing "clunky" with too many descriptive phrases and words strung together. Many of the descriptive words used together have the same or very similar meanings (Ex: "frantic panic" - you only need one of these). This style of writing slows the pace of the story and takes readers out of the action. I couldn't think about the characters or story line at all as I stumbled through the wordy sentences.
As I said, this book did not work for me, but that is my OPINION. I applaud everyone who starts the author journey and ACTUALLY finishes it with a published work. Keep writing!… (mere)
