This book focuses on the accounts of women in the Acts of the Apostles, such as Sapphira, Tabitha, Lydia, the slave girl in Philippi, Priscilla, and others. Its special contribution is that it digs deeper into the social and cultural background that most commentaries on Acts do. As a result, the author provides some fresh and interesting insights into these passages. Surprisingly, few commentaries on Acts that have been written since this book was published (such as Fitzmyer, Bock, and Petersen) have utilized her insights or interacted with her arguments. This work deserves much more attention by New Testament scholars than it has received.
