This book is an introduction to the writing life, primarily covering:
• establishment of a writing routine, from conceiving ideas to drafting works, then editing and workshopping them; • improvement of writing through a reading routine, which means reading like a writer (with awareness and analysis), including where to find the best writing; • orientation to aspects of the writing craft; and • orientation to the business aspects of writing.
It’s okay -- a very light overall orientation for beginning writers. I was hoping to characterize it as a gentle boot camp, but it’s quite passive and conversational, too much chattiness for me. I felt mired in it and was frustrated that there seemed to be 'way too many words for the amount of information or inspiration transferred.
