I never read Ptolus the RPG setting, mostly because it sounded kind of like an "Undermountain" thing where there's a city on top of a never-ending dungeon, and I always thought that was a dumb/unrealistic idea. But saw this cheap somewhere so picked it up.

Monte Cook is a genius, probably one of the greatest game designers alive or dead, but this wasn't all that interesting. Everything seemed kind of standard. I liked the ghost companion, but then he was gone and everything just seemed "too D&D". Which seems like it would be a good thing considering I've been playing D&D for 42+ years, but it just wasn't deep enough and some of the art just looked silly to me.… (mere)

Interesting story involving a new character Solstice and some Indian-inspired gods. I liked the artwork in this, the women looked pretty realistic and people reacted as you would expect to blows etc. This one had a villan who fed off the power of some of the characters, making it hard to fight.

Ptolus: City By The Spire is a comic based on Monte Cook’s Ptolus game setting. The story follows the lead character Sheva Callister as she embarks on a quest to save her friend Parnell who is a ghost. While on the quest she has to fight through a multitude of enemies, traps, and undead. Assisting Sheva on her quest are her friends Daersidian and Brusselt. Later in the comic the mysterious Iron Mage assists her with defeating an evil hound, a crime lord, and an evil magician. In the end Sheva manages to rescue her friend Parnell and she prepares to embark on a quest to bring Parnell back to life.

When I picked up Ptolus at the comic book store I had no idea why I decided to buy it. I am now grateful that I did decide to buy it. Ptolus is an absolute gem of a comic and Dabel Brothers has now earned my utmost respect for producing this comic. The artwork is very good with extreme detail paid to all of the various monsters that appear in the comic.
