A Snag in the Tapestry (Thalia's Musings, #1) af Amethyst Marie
This book is hilarious! It feels like a sitcom inside Mount Olympus; sort of like Percy Jackson but with more mature subject matter and less reverence (if that's possible). Thalia as the Muse of Comedy is a brilliant narrator and her relationship with Apollo is top-notch. The only, very minor, nitpick I had was that the rest of the Muses, besides Calliope and Thalia, didn't get a whole lot of characterization, but I understand that seven extra characters is a lot to focus on. Overall, another awesome look at Greek mythology that might make you learn something along the way.… (mere)

worddragon | Mar 2, 2022 | This book really amps up the drama between Apollo and Thalia when Adonis, Persephone and Hades adopted son, comes to Olympus with them. It's a great look at love and lust, and really adds another dimension to Aphrodite's character as well, as she's Adonis' other lover.
The twist I really didn't see coming was Aphrodite, Adonis, and Amphitrite being the Furies and the way they were being used by the Fates. It was a great wrench to throw into the mix, and only brought up more questions to be answered later.
Athena and Artemis' relationship was also amazing. The two virgin goddesses pairing off and it not breaking their vows? Very clever, and also believable in this incarnation. They, and everyone else in this story, felt like real characters and it was great to see them finally get together.
This was a really solid second installment and I can't wait for Volume 4!… (mere)

worddragon | Mar 2, 2022 | This is the best book yet in this series. Even it didn't end "happily ever after", the knowledge that Zeus' comeuppance is coming is something I can root for.
I didn't know anything about Beroe before I started this book, least of all that Adonis and Aphrodite had a daughter. I loved her character in this book, and the way she was both everything her parents were and their complete antithesis at the same time. Her speech in Endymion's Cave was exciting for me, with the (confirmed?) possibility of another aro/ace/possibly agender character.
The whole second half of the book was riveting, with the competition between Poseidon and Dionysus/Beroe , and the ending read like an action movie.
Hera's slow realization of just how badly she needed someone that wasn't Zeus in her life was heart-wrenching, as was her entire subplot with Ixion. He was one of my favourite characters, and I'm really hoping he isn't stuck to that flaming wheel for eternity .… (mere)
