This is a terrifying account of the repression and illegal imprisonment of the Uyghur minority in Western China. The most chilling aspects were the near constant demonstrations of intimidation that the Uyghurs were subjected to daily. For example, when the Uyghurs were asked to appear at the Police station for photographs and DNA samples they had to walk down in the basement and past a chair used for torture and executions.
