- Marion Moore Hill was born in Oklahoma and grew up primarily in Illinois and Kansas. She earned an A.A. degree from El Dorado Junior College (now Butler County Community College) in Kansas, a B.S. in journalism from Oklahoma Baptist University, and an M.A. in communications from Stanford University. She worked as a newspaper reporter, college English and journalism teacher, legal secretary, and advertising copywriter before becoming a full-time author. For several years, she and husband Elbert owned and operated a small ethnic/gourmet grocery in Durant, Oklahoma.
She writes two series of mystery novels: the Scrappy Librarian Mysteries in which librarian Juanita Wills solves mysteries using her research skills and knowledge of the people of the small town of Wyndham, Oklahoma with her sidekick, a dog named Rip for Jack the Ripper; and the Deadly Past Mysteries, contemporary novels about American-history buff Millie Kirchner. She also writes short stories.

Big Book Betrayal (Scrappy Librarian Mystery 4) af Marion Moore Hill
A very powerful middle-grade book that deals with some very serious themes. Extremely well written, with parts that will make your heart heavy and ones that make laughter bubble out of you like a fresh mountain spring. You'll find yourself completely entwined in Phoebe's life, and finishing the book is like leaving a good friend behind.
I love librarians in books and Juanita is an interesting librarian with interesting staff. Since her boyfriend is a policeman it is inevitable that she end up involved in murder. Throw in some secret militia, a cast of possible suspects and the nosy nature of Juanita and you have a complicated mystery with a lot of interesting twists and turns. I had a bit of trouble with some of Juanita's decisions and where she put herself in dire situations but all in all it is a good mystery.
I really like Marion Moore Hill, both of her series are interesting and fun to read with likable characters and very complex puzzles.
Deadly Design centers around the earliest history of our country with Thomas Jefferson as a central character, not in actual dialog but as the focus of historical research that is the centerpiece of this book.
I'm a history buff and I like Jefferson but somehow some of this book went a little too far bringing in architecture, politics, Lewis & Clark's voyage to the Louisiana Purchase lands, studies of weather, issues of slavery, and love of reading - just to name a few! I still loved the book, will read the next one when it comes out but hope that there is a little better balance between the past and the present.… (mere)

I still mostly like this series because the mysteries are compelling and the characters are all done very well. My hesitation in down-right loving the series is the main characters insistence in doing things that are TSTL (too stupid to live). Her boyfriend is a cop and she keeps things from him, she goes into areas where she is in danger, she actually steals something from the police station (a copy of a file) in this book. These things bother me - especially the going into police files just because she's curious. I'll probably read the next book in the series because I do enjoy most of the stories but I hope she starts learning from her experiences and exhibits more caution while doing her amateur sleuthing.… (mere)
