These recipes were compiled (tested and approved) by Mary Jean Hart, Director of Domestic Science Department at Iglehaeart Brothers. The introduction: Cake Secrets: A Complete Description of What They Are was written by Janet McKenzie Hill, editor for American Cookery Magazine. In this small booklet, there are many colored plates printed throughout. Cake Secrets book has the basic recipes and procedures for regulation butter and sponge cakes, as well as many other different kinds of cakes, baked goods, and cake fillings. In my original copy there is a pink 'Special Cake Utensil Offer', and for 1.00 (1.25 west of Denver and 1.50 in Canada) from Swans Down you get a measuring cup, spatula, square cake tin, angel food tin, measuring spoons, wooden mixing spoon, and a copy of the book itself. Interestingly enough, Swans Down offered to make any package "Do Not Open Until Christmas" to anyone you wanted to send this book and set to as a Christmas present.… (mere)
