I rated this novelette 4 stars. Some people keep large species of snails and slugs for pets, were you aware of that fact? After reading this I can not imagine, it makes my neck crawl. “Cute little faces,” my butt! Slimy demon spawn!
This built up like a very straight forward episode of Tales from the Crypt: You knew there was horror and mayhem coming, the narrator (in this case, author) knew what was coming, and everyone was excited to see how messily it came about. The title screams creature horror, and with creatures not known for their speed, a new level of horrifying. I was not disappointed, instead, bothered more than I anticipated; I have a new phobia, ngl.
Tiny spoiler, maybe. Turn back now if not wanting to read. You have been warned.
My only complaint: Even if they didn’t want to believe the wife at the end, she would have some kind of proof with the daughter having to go to the hospital, right?
