Karl Geiringer was born in Vienna in 1899 and studied at the University of Berlin and the University of Vienna where he received his Ph.D. An American citizen since 1945, he has taught at Hamilton College, Boston University, and the University of California at Santa Barbara. ohannes Brahms (Hamburgo, 7 de mayo de 1833 - Viena, 3 de abril de 1897) fue un pianista y compositor alemán del romanticismo, aunque se le puede considerar ahora un posromántico. A Brahms se le considera el más clásico de los compositores románticos. Se mantuvo fiel toda su vida al clasicismo romántico y conservador, influenciado por Mozart, Haydn y, particularmente, por Beethoven. Fue posiblemente el mayor representante del círculo conservador en la Guerra de los románticos. Sus oponentes, los progresistas radicales de Weimar, estaban representados por Liszt, los integrantes de la posteriormente llamada Nueva Escuela Alemana y por Wagner.… (mere)
