This book is a sports romance told in the style of Beauty and the Beast.

Piper and Cole were an interesting pair. Piper (our Beauty) is a young woman who's unexpected baby caused some ripples in her life. Now she's doing her best to make a life for her daughter. Her father is a sports agent and has allowed her to work at his firm. He sends her to deal with a difficult client and that's how our pair meets.

Cole (the Beast) is that difficult client. He's stays locked away in his castle/mansion and refuses to agree to the terms Piper and her father are trying force on him. Cole is a football player, a menace on the field, and his team as well as the entire league are tiring of his shenanigans. He's such a beast on the field that he tends to seriously hurt the other players. The team wants to trade him to another team that Cole refuses to go to because he knows they'll only want him to be that vicious monster on the field and he doesn't want that.

It's Piper's job to convince him. And when she seemingly fails, she ends up out of a job. Cole takes pity on her and they work out an arrangement. That arrangement leads to them falling in love. But they happily ever after is still hard to come by.

I read a lot of reviews of this book that didn't like how she went after him. That they always want the man to come after the woman. And generally, that's preferable. But there are also instances where you need to "meet people where they're at" so to speak. I honestly don't think Cole was "normal" and had a whole different way of interacting with the world for whatever reason. The book alludes to him not having the most ideal of childhoods but really nothing that would explain his level of anti socialism. But clearly he was highly anti social and had anger issues that he did his best to stifle. In this case, he needed Piper to help lead him out of his darkness.

Overall, I actually liked this story and the things Piper and Cole had to go through to get it all together. What really stole my heart was the love story between Cole and Piper's daughter Rosie. He was super adorable with her and their moments stole my heart. I'm very interested in getting to the rest of the series.… (mere)

This should be book one of the series. Because it’s really the start of the building of the Rivets dream team starting with Jack. This is his story. But we meet him near the end of the official book 1 of the series.

I’m any event, Jack was a playboy, womanizer, and trouble maker. He uses his publicist Leah to get out of some trouble by claiming she’s his girlfriend. And things soon get interesting when he realizes they need to do something even bigger to clean up his reputation .... like baby big.

This book was pretty good. I liked book 1 more. It took me awhile to really “get” that Jack and Leah belonged together. But I was happy enough for their HEA.… (mere)
