Imperfect Bliss: A Novel af Susan Fales-Hill
I got this book from the library as part of a "Blind Date with a Book" event for Valentine's Day. I'm relieved that I spent no money on it. "Jane Austen meets The Bachelorette" sounds like an interesting and possibly amusing premise, but aside from the main character and maybe her dad, everyone else is awful. The mother is ridiculous. The sisters are all pretty much terrible. Everyone seems like some crude stereotype. And the writing is so overwrought that I wanted to slam the book closed every few paragraphs. I finally gave up about 7 chapters in, which is really more than this book deserved.… (mere)
Funny family mix with a story of true love, and love for all the wrong reasons. Cute.
Not my usual read. Could actually have been a fun take off on The Bachelorette but it just got silly at the end. I guess kind of like the show . . .
Another attempt to update P and P to this century, (4 biracial sisters instead of 3) that I thought might be amusing when I found it on an exchange shelf. It's even set near where I grew up. But ultimately, I don't have the patience for it right now, and will release it unfinished. If I hear fabulous reviews, I'll pick it back up from the library. I bid it farewell at Chapter 12.
