NOTE: marked as read, but it's a reference. I haven't read every page, but with "The Rings of Power" I'm referring to it often for information.

Very readable. I appreciated the list of reading groups Tolkien formed over the years, the real world inspiration for some characters and ideas, the bits about his wife, and some allusions to his impact on the academic world.

I am not a great fan of biography but am fooled once in a while and actually enjoy the read. And I enjoyed this book. Partly I suppose because I am a fan of both authors, partly because I am a fan of their intellects. And partly because Duriez weaves the friendship into a tale and I feel I got to know these two towering figures better.
