Didn't finish it. Went through two chapters of sentences of 70 words that were unreadable due to not using of comma's. Present and past were used almost in the same sentence. After two chapters I still didn't know where the story was going.
Disclaimer: I got this book in the Librarything Early Reviewers

Guilty Crown by Bree De'Leon focuses on three main characters: Morena Darkstorm, Amelia, and Lucille. The story was very straight forward and easy to read- even for a younger audience(in my opinion). Sadly i found that there wasnt enough of suspense, secrets, or basically a type of twist that kept the story interesting. This made it hard for any type of character development. Personally, it also felt the the story focused more on the romance rather than moving the plot forward and telling the story.

Now, to the characters. I found it really hard to relate or care about them, as there wasnt really anything that made them stand out or be original- mostly they were just character tropes. There is a bit of background to them, but not so much that can help determine how much the character actually grows throughout the story.

The book makes sure that the reader knows where the characters are during a certain time and the author does provide enough details to show how those different places look and what creatures, if any, are living there. But I would have liked a more geographical point of view of the setting, especially since it's from a different world that can't be found in reality.

All in all, the story was okay but not great enough to continue reading the series. Though the book was not my cup of tea, im sure there are other who will enjoy it. Definitely give it a chance!

This book is packed with a lot of characters that are extremely interesting in a complex and compelling way. The artistry necessary to envision such an environment for these characters to exist blows me away. I look forward to the next book in the series. This one was a bit of a cliffhanger making you want to know more.

Disclaimer: I received this book as a part of LibraryThing Early Reviewers.

The book description was interesting enough to get me curious about it but sadly everything else turned out very general. There wasn't anything distinguishable or memorable about this book and I think one of the main reasons was because the characters felt superficial and there wasn't any emotional dept in them and I couldn't see any character development too as they acted through the book the same way and sometimes their actions were very hard to understand. There were issues with the plot too as in some places I felt that the author highlighted insignificant details whereas in other places it was a very fast shift from one event to another.

Overall after reading this first book in The Darkstorm Legacies I wasn't left with an urge to continue to follow this series. But as this is the author's first book I think that there is a potential for further improvement and if Bree De'leon will continue her growth as an author there's a possibility for a good fantasy author.
