1968 Vexed and Troubled Englishmen 1590-1642, by Carl Bridenbaugh (read 26 Dec 1985) This is an unusual book by a professor at Brown University. It was published in 1968. It tells much about England in the period, in an effort to show why people emigrated and what they were like;. The book reeks of research in records of the period, but all in all it was a good book. The jacket says: "This is the first of several volumes projected by the author on 'The Beginnings of the American People.' ''
