I received a copy of this book from our local PJ Library. I had never really paid attention to the story of Queen Vashti before. I loved how the book brought the story to life with catchy rhymes and beautifully colored illustrations. It was wonderful to read how powerful Queen Vashti was by standing up for herself.

A cute, but reasonable midrash about Vashti. Spoiler: when the king tells her to show up or "scram! ... the women stormed the palace gate ... to conquer the wold in their comfy pants!" Colorful illustrations.

The Biblical character of Vashti is the queen who preceded Esther in the story of Purim. Vashti is a modern woman stuck in ancient times.

A story of one of the Israelites who fled Egypt when Pharaoh freed the Jews: young Bezalel collects small objects in which he finds beauty, and brings his box of treasures with him when they flee, even though others think there are more essential things to pack. But it's lucky Bezalel does, because it turns out God loves beautiful things too, and Bezalel helps decorate the ark.
