Genre:fiction.I liked this book because it was fun and creative. The polar bear is bored in his igloo so he writes letters to his friends. I would read this book to my students and introduce them to letter writing.

This is a fun, neat , ingenious book giving a glimpse into the interiors of a number of landmark buildings around the world. a good selection of countries but nothing from Russia or China . It a cleverly designed and constructed books you lift little flaps to peep inside . It is full of drawings , hardly to scale but keeps on intriguing as you open doors and lift fronts off the page . It will appeal to children of all ages and is a book for grandparents to share with their grandchildren . It is a book of delights and pleasures aimed at the American and British markets .… (mere)

In this book a polar bear is living in a plain igloo where everything is frozen. He does not like how cold it is, or how plain it is so he sits down and writes a series of letters to several of his friends. He asks each friend to send him things like
: warm food, light, something to keep him warm, etc. In the end, his igloo looks more like a home, he has warm food and light, but he is lonely. His friends surprise him at the end by showing up at his doorstep.

This book has wonderful pop-ups, and colorful illustrations. I read this book for my service component and the kids loved it. They asked me to bring it next time. It has a wonderful message of how friends help each other out.

In the classroom, I would use this book to discuss how to write, address and mail letters. After reading the story and oral discussion, I would have students write a letter to a soldier, The President, or someone with one address. After they were done writing their letter we would put them in an envelope. I would have an envelope of my own, using a Docucam, or Projector, I would begin addressing my envelope. I would ask the students to do the same thing on their envelope. When finished, we would mail them.
