If I could I would give this novel a 7. Living in Miami my entire life with Havana basically down the street like New Jersey is to New York, I can feel the breeze, smell the rum, and taste the sweat. Well done.

Richly, densely overwritten, worth the necessary second and third readings.

I enjoyed this book and its' great insight into Native Americans. It did a great job of showing how badly we treated the Indians. I would have given it a higher rating but I felt it really rambled with some of the philosophical writings. I just didn't think that this added that much to the book. That being said, I think this book should be compulsory reading for history classes on America in the 19th and 20th centures.
