Written before GUI's had taken over and the command line was king, before Linux and open source had become a thing, before the ubiquity of the Internet, when laptops were still called "luggables" for a reason, you would think this book would be dated. It's not. This book is about the design philosophy behind what is arguably the most successful operating system ever devised. This should be required reading in every CS101 class. The only complaint is that it's too short and could really profit from an update covering more recent history and systems. Minor details - if you are or want to be a software engineer, read this book.… (mere)
