For centuries, the legend of Robin Hood and his band of thieves has captivated the imagination. Now the familiar tale takes on new life, fresh meaning, and an unexpected setting. Hunted like an animal by Norman invaders, Bran ap Brychan, heir to the throne Elfael, has abandoned his father's kingdom and fled to the greenwood. There, in the primeval forest of the Welsh borders, danger surrounds him - for this woodland is a living, breathing entity with mysterious powers and secrets, and Bran must find a way to make it his own if he is to survive. Like the forest itself, Hood is deep, dark, and at times savagely brutal - yet full of enchantment and hope. Internationally-acclaimed author Stephen R. Lawhead has created a lyrical rendering of a time-honored story that will lead you down strange pathways into another time and place.

Dimly remembered but i know it was quite good ( )

It was interesting to read the beginning of the Robin Hood story with a Welsh setting. There is a large cast of characters, many of whom are traditional members of the story (Little John, Tuck, Marian), but its hard to figure out who is really the bad guy (the Sheriff) as there are quite a few contenders for the role. This is the first book of a trilogy, and I'm sure it will become clearer.

I was inititally drawn into the story quickly, and it moved along at a pretty good pace while keeping you interested. Towards the end of the book, I started loosing interest, so it took longer than normal to finish. I'll wait a bit before beginning the next in the series. ( )

I listened to this book. The narrator had a few words he continually mispronounced which was quite irritating. ( )

The concept is neat, but not much happened by way of action or development. I really wanted to like this book, but I kept getting bogged down in the pacing. :/ ( )
