Very enjoyable ( ) I read this in one sitting...couldn't put it down because I just had to know what was going on. In this legal thriller, twenty two year old Stephen Cade stands trial for the murder of his father and indeed, all the evidence points to him. The case takes place in England in the 60's before capital punishment was completely abolished so the boy will lose his life if he loses the trial. It's good story that actually begins with his father during the war. Although the odds are against him, one policeman travels to France to unravel the old mystery...but will he be in time? This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. As a fan of murder mysteries and courtroom dramas, I was disappointed after reading this book. I am a fast reader usually, but it took me a long time to finish this one, largely because I was not really interested in whatever happened to any of the characters. In fact, the main problem the author had was his development of he characters - none of them was even remotely likable, and I would say they mostly felt artificial to me. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

A famed Oxford historian is found dead in his study one night, all evidence pointing to his son, Stephen, who was about to be disinherited from the family fortune. When Stephen's fingerprints are found on the murder weapon, his guilt seems undeniable--but then the revelation that the deceased man was involved in a deadly hunt for a priceless relic in Northern France at the end of World War II lends credence to Stephen's innocence.
