ZERO STARS!
An appalling bit of trash. I like the SBC Fighter series. What was this? First, not an SBC book. Second, BAD, BAD, BAD, science fiction. It's plain that Ms. Foster has never read any good sci fi if she's read any sci fi at all. If there was a stupid sci fi cliche that she didn't use, I sure couldn't tell. Thank goodness I rented and didn't buy the damn thing. I'm not going to go into detail. If you really want to know my opinion, check out the most helpful negative review on Amazon about this book. While not my review, it says everything I would want to say here. ( )

I eventually came to enjoy this story, but it took several more chapters than necessary compared to Foster's other novels. "My Man, Michael" fits within the confines of the SBC story arc, but removes itself completely from the setting of the rest of the SBC world. Whilenall other books in the series are "realistic fiction", Foster added an element of science fiction to this novel.
I am usually a big fan of science fiction, but it felt highly out if place in this series. The story was decent enough, but it's removal from the SBC world previously built was boy confusing and disappointing. ( )

Frankly, the book doesn't deserve more of my time, so it is what it is. I will say, however, I recall that this author had a vile hero (and maybe even heroine ?) in another book I read of hers, so never again. Unless I am really convinced otherwise. By some miracle.

A MMA fighter gets into a car accident, a woman from the future asks him to help teach her people how to fight in exchange for fixing his leg. They lust after each other, the hero(?) made me want to strangle him with his sexist comments, heroine who was supposed to be strong just disappears, heroine's mother and father storyline is simplistic, can be seen from a mile away, and there is next to no world building.
Simplistic, sexist, and not good in my opinion.

Crippled in a car accident and unable to fight, the hero is depressed. That is until he receives a visitor. The heroine is a beautiful albeit a bit bizarre woman who has odd speech patterns and a tendency to disappear into thin air. She's from the future. She's a warrior woman charged with retrieving a warrior from odd to fight for them in the future. When it's made clear to him he will gain the use of his leg again and be a whole man, the hero jumps at the heroine offer and together they travel to 2220. First off, what a stupid book. The cover nor the synopsis states that this is in anyway a paranormal time travel romance. And secondly, it was basically porn. The hero had no personality and though of nothing but banging the heroine who states time and time again that she's not available for mating. The reason she's unavailable is that she wants to fight for he people and a mated female can't be a warrior. If she goes with him, she loses everything she's ever fought for. And the hero had ZERO compassion regarding this. His solution to his lust for her was to take her against her wishes as his chosen mate and make himself a general in her place. He completely disregarded her feelings and wishes for his old selfish gain. I can't remember truly hating a hero as much as I hated him because he had nothing significant to say. He was thrust into a world he didn't know or understand and refused to see anything from the people's point of view. Yes it was awful that they're offering virgin sacrifices but for a society hanging on by a thread, without weapons or the means to protect themselves, what do you expect them to do? He also finished every sentence with either 'eh, or huh or some other nonsensical gibberish. The heroine was no better. Warrior my ass. She was so weak willed and rather pathetic instead of the proud soldier she was supposed to be. The loathing of the two characters and the absolutely absurd and stupid plot line made this book unbearable. ( )
