This is a book about a group of seventh graders who are putting on a play to honor their teacher who just passed away. The play brings about many controversies between the students as well as the teachers. Once everyone resolves the issues that come up the students perform the play in honor of their teacher.

When Miss Mac passes away suddenly, the teachers at Rosemont Middle School decide to put on her play about the Battle of the Alamo in her honor. However chaos soon ensues as the Mexican and American cultures of the students clash. In this coming of age story, each of the main characters must discover more about him or herself and overcome struggles. Miss Martinez must adjust to life as a new teacher, Raquel must learn how to balance her Mexican heritage with her current home.

This book is about a teacher who has passed away and they want to do something to commemorate her memory. There was a play found that she had written. It ends up being controversial and many people are not happy with how she portrayed the Alamo Wars.
