This publication gives information on all the drugs and medicines available on prescription in the UK, with notes on prescribing, indications, cautions, contra-indications, dose, side-effects and cost. Each chapter relates to a specific system of the body. The BNF is compiled with the advice of a panel of experts under the authority of a Joint Formulary Committee. The book is intended for use by prescribers in the National Health Service, as well as by pharmacists, nurses and other health-care professionals. There is also an electronic version of this book which can be viewed on any modern personal computer. This "stand-alone" version of the elctronic BNF (eBNF) retains the familiar pocket book form of the BNF on the computer screen, but the Adobetm Acrobattm software used to view the eBNF provides powerful additional facilities. For example, a click on an entry in the contents list or index should immediately provide access to the relevant page. Where a drug interaction warning is given in the text, a click on the word "interactions" in the text provides instant access to the appropriate drug in the interactions section of the BNF.There are also various ways in which the electronic text can be searched. An electronic adverse reaction form is also available. The subscription to the eBNF ("stand alone") is #199.00 per annum (this includes two electronic versions of the BNF, Adobetm Acrobattm software, postage/packing, and access to a "helpline"). Sample disks of the eBNF are available for #5.00.… (mere)
