3.5 rounded up to 4 stars. Both main characters grew on me, and I liked them for each other. There were a couple weaker parts (the logic for their last adventure had more holes than substance really) but there were also some nice moments, and ultimately I was entertained. ( )

The first half of the book helps you understand the characters backgrounds. David is a spoiled brother of a Duke. The Duke of Exeter. He drinks like a fish, gambled away most of his money, and sleeps with any woman who will "lift her skirts". He is irresponsible to say the least. So when his brother leaves the affairs of Exeter in David's hands, David decides that it is time to be more responsible.

And how does David begin? By being robbed by highwaymen, while taking a public stage coach to London.

Vivian is a thief. She's on the same stage coach as David. Her role in the robberies is to pick and ride along, and to sell whatever jewelry is stolen. So when she tries to sell Davids ring that was stolen in a town where he knows all the pawn shops, she is discovered by David.

This book starts out with David being noticibly spoiled and Viv hating David. I really liked it because she was a thief and he was the shady bad boy brother. Sort of. Not really. Lol ( )

This is really just a normal, average romance novel. There's not a lot special about it, the characters don't really stand out, and the plot isn't anything fascinating. Actually, it's more than a little bit of a stretch - sons of dukes don't realistically marry pickpockets. I much prefer historical romances in which characters actually behave in accordance with social norms - I'm not so much for girls who act like 20th century women. If I wanted that, I could buy a modern romance. And I think this girl - and the fact that she has a chance at marrying the son of a duke - is a bit anachronistic. But it's a decent read for a rainy afternoon, and I've read worse - that's about the best I can say about it. ( )

A weak part of the Reece family series. As much as I liked David, this story seems very improbable. I was not wild about the heroine. If it wasn't for the rest of the family I would have skipped it. ( )

I found this book engaging. I liked the main characters and wanted to see things work out for them. While the ending is predictable, I enjoyed the journey. ( )
