This book is for fans of the Hip, not really a great picture book for the kiddos. Cute illustrations. Lots of references to their biggest songs. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This was a fun alphabet book - it is probably fairly niche for Tragically Hip fans - I loved the illustrations and the song titles. H is for Hundredth Meridian!! Look forward to sharing this with a younger generation someday. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This book is loudly Canadian, and pretty straightforward. It's an alphabet book based on song titles from Canada's The Tragically Hip, and is illustrated by several Canadian artists so there's a variety of picture styles.I'm not as familiar with the band as I could be, but I enjoyed how each artists' work made for a related set of pages that could tell a story about a family or friends, and I did recognize detail of Gord Downie's hat and feather appearing in several of the illustrations. The images themselves include familiar sightings on the Canadian landscape like a snowed in town, a grain elevator, and a hockey rink. There is probably more to see if you are a fan of the band and familiar with the songs and their meanings, but it's a cute book nonetheless. This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. The Tragically Hip ABC is a delightful picture book that is definitely intended more for Hip fans than for children. I loved how the illustrators used their creativity to portray the different song titles that stood for each letter of the alphabet. A personal favorite of mine is H is for At the Hundredth Meridian! This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. I wasn't sure what to expect when I received this book, but i was very pleased. This Children's book is on the surface an ABC beginning reader for the very young, using song titles from the Hip to illustrate the letters of the alphabet. The illustrations from a handful of Canadian and aboriginal artists are not just suitable but relate well to the songs themselves and to the career of the band. I only wish there had been a bit of explanation of how the illustrations and song titles work together, to connect the dots as it were, for those new readers not wholly familiar with the band and their music. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
