I really liked the first book in this series, but this one was more average. One of the characters kept ghosting the other, and eventually being called out on it, and seeming to realize it was wrong, and then doing it all over again. And that was kind of off-putting. At least it was addressed though, I would have been more annoyed if it was just passed off as 'fine' behavior. Quite a bit of the drama was due to unnecessary secret keeping, which is also sort of tedious. The first half was better than the second though, and effort was put into the steam. CW for several dark topics - Infertility, murder, suicide, coercion, mental health, incest, and sex work. ( )
