Wow!! Was my first thought as I finished reading the book and recollected on the ride that this story took me on. It actually took me awhile to come around to reading this book because I worried it would be very painful and heartbreaking. Im so glad I read it. The book was so well written I felt like I was in each characters shoes. I felt the highs and lows and hopes and losses. Such a powerful tale and what makes it so much more incredible is that its a true story. If you enjoy Romance and want to learn about WWII I highly recommend this book. ( )

This book is beautifully written! It grabs a hold of you right from the beginning, and doesn't let go until the very end. You cry and worry along side both Fela and Joska as they endure the most horrific time period during WWII. The magic and miracles in the pages of this book will be held in my heart forever more. Thank you so much for sharing this ppignant love story with the rest of the world, especially at a time when we all need it the most. ( )

This was such a moving book of a familys’ unthinkable hardships because of the war. You can clearly tell them time and emotion that went into this piece and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a heartfelt and emotional read! Thank you for sharing your family’s story! ( )

TORN LILACS is a frightening and challenging book to read - the pain and horror of many events
was endurable only because I knew that there was ultimately a beautiful ending...
and sometimes because a miracle intervened.

Mounting tension and always fears for beyond brave and extraordinary Joseph and Felicia
do not prepare readers for the betrayal by Anja.

Do Kuba and Fela ever meet again after their journeys to America and Israel? ( )
