Erwin Lutzer, pastor of Moody Church, discusses the assault made against Evangelical Christianity by the left. Although he offers Christians some insights into how they should respond, the majority of the work concentrates on how faith is being attacked. He does call out the philosophies behind many of the attacks, but he could do a better job of telling Christians how to stand strong in the face of the assault.
In a society that seems to be disintegrating before our eyes, Lutzer helps us identify the root causes and gives us tips for combating it from a Christian worldview. Erwin Lutzer’s book, We Will Not Be Silenced: Responding Courageously to Our Culture’s Assault on Christianity, is one of the best explanations of the current situation.
Each day you watch America turn further from Christian values and the core principles of liberty. It's frustrating to feel you can't assert biblical truth without facing condemnation, and fearful to witness outrage and victimhood replace respect and reason. Amidst this dissent, how can you not only stay rooted in your own faith, but continue publicly testifying for Jesus? In We Will Not Be Silenced, Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer prepares you to live out your convictions against a growing tide of hostility. Gain a better understanding of nonbelievers' legitimate hurts and concerns regarding issues like racism, sexism, and poverty-and identify the toxic responses secular culture disguises as solutions. In the process, you'll see how you can show compassion and gentleness to those outside of the faith without affirming their beliefs. Ingen biblioteksbeskrivelser fundet. |

He talks about how Marxism calls for minorities to testify to their plight and that others can't understand, then says that black and brown people are the only ones who can tell their story. [We absolutely should listen to people, not disputing that].
He also decries the call for equality of outcome [as opposed to equality of opportunity], then discusses how there IS systemic issues because some laws impact different groups differently. Could this be because of an ism? Yes, it's possible. It could also be a cultural issue. If there's a specific law that is racist, we need to name it and deal with it.
There's a lot of good here so far but it also feels contradictory in some cases. I saw other reviews that had issue with the first half of the book but the second half changed their outlook and I intend to finish, so we'll see. ( )
