A good story.
Dark subject in the background, older villian trying to marry a girl 30 years her senior, whether she wants to or not but no details of anything dark.
It starts with her attending a funeral and I wished the person who had died had faked their death, was bit sad.
No cheating.
No ex drama, though the Hero is sworn off women due to a bad experience.
The heroine is 18 years old and has had a very sheltered life so as to be kept 'pure' so she is a virgin.
The Hero isn't but it's been some time since he's been with anyone else and he certainly isn't a man-whore.
They have a rocky initial first meeting but then it's kind of insta.
HEA.
Epilogue.
Dual POV plus diary excerpts from a diary of another character.

This is not the Cinderella of your childhood. As with every Katy Regnery fairytale, she develops the story to make it her own. Never a retelling but an adult ode to the intent of the story. I have fallen with Ms. Regnery's storytelling and especially this series. Each one has shown a bit of the darker side of adult life and their impact. She doesn't fail with Fragments of Ash in her continued mastery of a new adult tale.

I enjoyed this romantic suspense. I received it for free and I've voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 5* rating. This is pretty intense and not for the under 18 readers. There is a bit of violence and foul language, some sexual references and more. But there are men out there who think women are posessions to do with as they want. This is one heck of a bad guy. At first I didn't know if I could read it all, but it does have a good ending. ( )

Ashley's tale is one of empowerment. Her heart may have been broken, but her spirit would not be contained. She refuses to be a victim of circumstance. That's what makes her an inspiration. Regnery turns one woman's heartache into a never-ending adventure of love loss, hope found and courage revealed. Fragments of Ash combines multiple genres to create a fantastical, captivating, irresistible, unforgettable, must have addition to any bookshelf. ( )

This is the first book I have read in this series. I have to say that this new modern twist on Cinderella is not one that I have read yet. Warning as the use of the "f" word is used a lot throughout the story. In other words the "f" bombs are dropping. I was not offended by the use of the word but I personally did not think the use of the word added to the story.

Ashley's stepfather is a monster. Ashley may have been young but she was not afraid to fight and leave the dangerous situation before anything happened. My favorite character is Ashley's godfather, Gus. He was so kind and the perfect godfather. In regards, to the love interest in Julian; it did feel real. However, I kind of wished it didn't have to happen so quickly. I mean, Julian was Ashley's "first" and it seemed like they escalated from kissing and such pretty quickly; even if the feelings were real. Overall, though I liked this book and would read other stories in this series. ( )
