Let the temptation begin. Charlie and Max are fighting a losing game. Whether fairy-tale fantasy trumps real life drama. Love is at stake and it's anybody's game. What happens when your enemy becomes your heart's desire? Kate Meader never loses her humorous side. Down with Love begins as a flight of fancy but transforms into a dance of love. A broken heart in need of a fresh perspective finds it's home in this fantastic fight to the finish. Loved this one! (Even though there's no firefighters, hockey players, Texans, or chefs... ;)) Wedding planner Charlie (aka "Charles") and divorce attorney Max (aka "The Cynic (TM)") are just so much fun together. I loved their back and forth when they couldn't stand each other almost as much as when they did--okay, sometimes I might have loved it even more when they were making each other kinda crazy. What can I say? I'm a banter kind of girl. And boy, can Ms. Meader do banter. :D Oh, and the little details, too--Max's love of old movies like Rear Window and An Affair to Remember (I cannot be the only person who had to see that one after seeing Sleepless in Seattle, right?) and seemingly throwaway comments like "Sure the Cubbies won the World Series a few years back, but no Chicagoan is comfortable being a fan of a winning team. We worked hard to earn out underdog status and it suits us" that show that she not only understands her adopted city, she also understands people. (Though, seriously...you want to talk underdog status, Chicago? Try living in Buffalo , for pity's sake. But I digress...) Max has two partners at his firm, former Brit Lucas (his Illegally Yours is next; woot!) and Grant, whose story we don't have hints about yet but I'm voting for a second chance romance from (fingers crossed!) which means at least two more series books to look forward to. They'll have quite the high bar to reach, though, trying beat Max and Charlie's story which had sigh-worthy lines like this one: "His hand in mine is the hot fudge sauce on my sundae, the relish on my dog, the topper on my Christmas tree. His hand in mine is all I need." but I'm sure Ms. Meader is up to the challenge. :) Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. Max Henderson doesn’t believe in happily-ever-afters, not in his line of business. Being a divorce lawyer, he has seen his fair share of marriages that have gone sour. Ordinary sane people seem to change once they are married. For this reason, Max is the love em and leave em type. He does not believe that love is all rainbows and glitter. He is a cynic. Max’s philosophy when it comes to dating is get in have fun and get out with no feelings involved. While out with his brother James, Max is quite shocked when his brother announces his engagement to Gina after only dating for three months. What is worse is Charlie, their wedding planner. Max feels an instant attraction to Charlie, but he believes she is taking his brother for a monetary ride and Max is determined to not let that happen. Charlie Love, owner of Perfect Day, issues a challenge of sorts to the cynical Max. Since, he doesn’t believe in matrimony and scoffs at the idea, she challenges him to support his brother James so his and Gina’s marriage can have a great start. Charlie also feels an attraction to Max, but she knows he will never be the right one for her. She is tired of just dating and wants to find “the one.” Something Max can never be. So, what happens when a cynic like Max meets a woman like Charlie who is all about love and finding Mr. Right? Down with love is the first book in the Laws of Attraction series about a team of lawyers who think they know everything about love, but in reality know nothing at all on the subject. I really enjoyed this story and felt it was the perfect blend of humor and romance between two opposites on the love spectrum who couldn’t be more wrong for each other. I could see and feel the attraction they have for one another, although both Max and Charlie never see it going anywhere past the physical part until feelings start getting involved. I really loved Max even though he was not a fan of marriage. Did he believe in true love? Yes! But, he already has a failed attempt at love under his belt and he is not looking to go down that road again. Charlie also has been down this road before, but her ex-boyfriend made her feel like she was beneath him and when she meets Max she is afraid that he will not see her for the smart and capable go-getter she is. Charlie tries to keep her distance, but Max pushes all of her buttons and she can’t help but get sucked right in by his charms. Down With Love is a charming and delightful romance that hooked me in right from the beginning. I love romantic stories where there is an opposites attract type of theme throughout. Kate Meader crafted two wonderful characters who are as different as night and day, but still can’t keep their hands off each other. It was fun to read their silly banter back and forth while rooting for them to find their happily-ever-after. I definitely cannot wait for the second book in this series to come out. I need to find out what happens with the other lawyers on the team! I received an ARC of this book to read from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Down with Love by Kate Meader is the first book in her sizzling new Laws of Attraction series. Kate Meader is one of my goto authors for strong alpha heroes who are balanced by equally strong heroines, well developed supporting characters and quite a bit of steam. Down With Love does not disappoint at all. Max Henderson is a hot shot divorce lawyer, a bit of a player who is pretty sure true love doesn’t exist for him. Charlotte (Charlie) Love is a successful wedding planner looking to settle down into her own happy ever after, and these two opposites meet with a bang when Max’s brother James and his bride to be Gina hire Charlie to plan their wedding. Lots of witty dialogue, plus heartfelt moments and I’ve decided there is nothing quite as sexy as an Alpha male realizing he’s been an ass and delivering a well thought out sincere apology and yes our heroine is not perfect so she does get to reciprocate with her own apology. Quite Steamy. Pub Date August 7, 2018 #NetGalley #DownWithLove ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

If you ever get married, remember my name: Max Henderson. In my line of work, you acquire a certain perspective on supposedly everlasting unions... 1. Pre-nups are your friend. 2. The person you married is not the person you're divorcing. 3. And I hope you didn't spend much on the wedding because that was one helluva waste of hard-earned cash, wasn't it? But some guys are willing to take a chance-like my brother, who thinks he's going to ride off into the sunset with the woman of his dreams in a haze of glitter on unicorns. And the wedding planner-the green-eyed beauty who makes a living convincing suckers to shell out thousands of dollars on centerpieces-is raking it in on this matrimonial monstrosity. The thing is, Charlie Love is not unlike me. We're both cogs in the wedding-industrial complex. As the best man, I know her game-and I can play it better than her. But after one scorching, unexpected kiss, I'm thinking I might just want to get played. No library descriptions found. |

Introduction
Down With Love is the first book in the "Laws of Attraction" trilogy. This was a book that I read from my Hoopla library subscription and I had a blast with this one in audio. It was so entertaining and I just loved the interactions between the couple. It had a mix of laughs with angst so this author really handles the bantering so well between this. It does have a borderline of enemies to lovers, but its more they are just opposite so that causes some fun conflicts. Just from reading this book, I can see why this trilogy is so well loved by so many readers and I am not sure why it took me so long to read but I can't wait to read more of it in the coming weeks!
Summary
Down With Love is a story about two people that have completely different views on weddings and marriage. Our hero, Max, is a bit cynical about marriage. He works with couples and deals with divorce and seperations and sees the negative affects of long term relationships. When Max finds out that his brother is engaged, but also has hired a wedding planner for their wedding, he is conflicted when there is explosive chemistry with the wedding planner. Charlie Love is a wedding planner, and believe in love and relationships. Charlie and Max go head to head at times as they have differing beliefs, but sometimes love gets in the way.
My Outlook
Down with Love was such a BLAST! I absolutely had so much fun with this one. I love stories with event planners, so it was so interesting to see this dynamic here because this couple was so fun in their interactions. They had me laughing all over the place. I was so entertained in seeing them work through their differences and working with their families. I just love a cynical hero and Max was the epitome of it and seeing him fall for love's tricks was so enjoyable. This author definitely knows how to entertain her readers. I am so curious to see the next one, I have really missed this author's voice in her stories.
Overall View
I found Down With Love to be a lively entertaining romance that curled my toes and kept my heart happy and light! An endearing romance to enjoy! ( )
