It took me a little longer to fall in love with Catarina, but I was in love with Cole from the moment he stepped out of the jeep. There were so many twists and turns in this story. I loved following them and heading down different paths with my thoughts. I never saw the twist that came about, but honestly, I should have expected something major! Can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series. ( ) I found this book to a very fast pace read. I thought the world building and science was so interesting but I did sometimes get lost in the details. I thought that the world building because it was a mystery felt like massive info dump near the end and just wanted more time to process the ending. I did not feel super connected to the characters but I really loved reading the book. The pacing was overall quick pace but had slow moments towards the middle of the book. I def did not send the massive ending coming and found that to super cool. I am really am exited to read book 2 soon! I found this book to a very fast pace read. A Zombie Apocalypse full of twists and turns and plot twists but also touching on some serious issues: Genetic Coding, advanced Tech, the evolution of super-viruses and what a person will do to stay alive. It starts off slow and it’s quite hard to read as it explains this post apocalyptic world and the modern science of it but then it begins to pick up its pace. Welcome to a world that has been crippled by a deadly virus outbreak that has forced most of the population underground into hiding, and the rest struggling to survive on the surface where they’re forced to do horrible things to survive. It is a dark and brutal dystopia packed with the most fascinating sci-fi science, but in a way that’s still easy to understand and the whole idea behind genetic coding and having apps and tech that run within your body was utterly brilliant, mixed with some twists I did not see coming and even managed surprised me! I’m cant wait to read more especially after that cliffhanger ending! UPDATE 17/03/2021 - Review added CW: Well that was a complex rollercoaster ride with hi-tech science, genetic coding, and a gory deadly virus. How fabulous to see women in science featured so spectacularly in this YA novel. The world was so detailed and the characters engaging. The story line had so many elements to it but I never felt overwhelmed. There was a degree of instalove but it was't overly offensive. I thoroughly enjoyed this and recommend it for any young adults who are STEM subject inclined or anyone who a loves good science fiction thrillers. UPDATE 16/03/2021 - Rereading for booktalk about genetic engineering in fiction. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
