Kennedy Ryan's characters are so true to life that it is easy to sympathize. The emotion within this story was so heartbreaking for me it felt like a physical ache. For a couple who has been through so much and made it to fall apart is sad. Down to My Soul picks up where My Soul to Keep ended. Having worked through the fear of openly offering her heart to someone and then having to endure betrayal was mind blowing for me as the reader. Ms. Kennedy is one of my favorite authors because she is not afraid to show the dirty side of love but still give you the happy ending. This is the continuation of My Soul to Keep; you need to read that before you read this one. Down to My Soul picks up where we were left off in book 1, Kai is on tour with Luke trying to get over the fact that he tried to control her.

Rhyson is still trying to win Kai back and not going about it in a good way. He is currently living in squalor, sleeping under his piano, and not showering or caring about anything. Their fight is still forefront in the public eye.

As time goes on, we are brought through the goings on of the back and forth of Kai and Rhys and how they try to mend their broken lives. What the ramifications of being so famous are. At times, it seems as if the book keeps dragging out the story, but there are some really good parts, that bring back happy memories of before all heck broke loose in their lives.

I really enjoyed reading this story for the most part. The character development is really good and I can see a few spin off stories for the other characters happening. This is a good solid 4 stars for me, only because I feel it could have been told in one book instead of two.
