Susan is trying to sort out her life after she found her husband cheating on her in their bed. She escaped to their cabin in the Mountains. That's where she meets Shawn (and her dog Alex). They're both in the woods walking when Alex runs up to Susan (splattering Susan with muddy water which was hilarious). They start as friends. Susan is going through quite a lot and Shawn happens to be a volunteer at a women's shelter and so has seen it all. Because of this it started really one sided, but, soon Shawn finds herself needing someone to listen and a shoulder as well. I was a little worried at the beginning because it did seem so so one sided, but, I shouldn't have worried. It did not stay that way. I will say that the slightly "idiot plot" (by that I mean that to real people the 'twist' would be obvious, but, this is fiction) with Shawn just not talking to Susan was a little annoying. But, overall it was a fun book and a fast read. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
Susan Sterling wanted nothing more than to escape her life . . . and her marriage. The family's secluded cabin in Kings Canyon National Park seemed the only place for her to find peace. But it took Shawn Weber coming into her life for her to find the courage to make changes. The budding friendship between the two women strengthens into an intense emotional bond, a bond that soon eclipses friendship. Despite pressure from her family to reconcile with her husband, Susan can't deny the feelings that Shawn stirs in her. Susan finds she's willing to forsake her entire family for a chance at love with Shawn. Ingen biblioteksbeskrivelser fundet. |

I would probably give it 2.5 stars but rounding down because Goodreads says 2 stars is "it was ok" and it was. ( )
