Good, but not quite as good as some of the others in the "Harmless" series. I didn't like the characters quite as much, and didn't get fully caught up in the story as I did with the first 4 books in the series. It felt a bit flat. I'm hoping for more from book 6. ( ) Jocelyn Dupree moves to Hawaii to recover from a bad break up and an attack from her former boss and mentor. Her brother Chris and Cynthia provide her the opportunity to rebuild her life and career as a pastry chef. The last thing she wants to think about is men. But she hasn't met Kai yet. Kai Aiona is also on the mend from a breakup and a broken heart. He's through with women with baggage. Until he meets Jocelyn. She's the epitome of everything he likes in a woman, except he knows a little of what happened to her through his sister, Mia. Gradually she loosens up a little and she's determined to get some part of herself back. She can't resist the delectable temptation that is Kai and agrees to a date with him. One turns into a few, and soon she's trusting him with more than just her story. What a great couple. Their open honesty throughout was so refreshing. By that I mean Kai's honesty about desiring her and Jocelyn's honesty in letting him know that she may not be able to give him what he wants. They didn't play games, which I appreciate in a story. Kai is just so damn delicious, there's no other way to describe him. He's inked, he's buff from working on the docks since he was fifteen, and he's so darn sweet. Jocelyn could have been more complicated because of her experiences, but she's such a strong personality that she pushed her insecurities aside pretty quickly. A lot of that was also Kai's doing. The little speech he gives her near the end made me tear up. Men could take a few pointers from him. This was a totally sweet read, and just right after the drama from Dee and Micah. LOVED it!!!! Kai is such a sweetie, an Alpha, but not overly so...very believable male character. I loved seeing all the characters from the previous books, and LOVE Chris' predicament =)It is very refreshing to see an author mix up what her series is about...all the books are smoking hot when it comes to sex, but this book was about two people recovering from bad relationships and falling in love, no BDSM like in the previous 3 Harmless books, don't get me wrong I loved the previous three, but it was nice to have an erotic love story thrown in the mix with no menage, no anal and no BDSM... GREAT ADDITION TO THE HARMLESS SERIES!!! LOVED it!!!! Kai is such a sweetie, an Alpha, but not overly so...very believable male character.
