Lancelot Capel Sheppard

This woman comes up often in the annals of Carmelites and saints in France. She was current with Beruille, St. Philip Neri (if memory correct), St. Francis de Sales, Fr. Benet Canfield, and perhaps even was visited by St. Vincent de Paul. She lived as wife and mother, but after husband's death became a Carmelite nun and helped found the first Carmels in France. She was instrumental in bringing Anne of Jesus and a couple other Spanish Carmelite nuns to France to accomplish the task. (Not sure if all the names are correct, but Barbe Acarie/Bl. Mary of the Incarnation was visited by many priests/saints of spiritual import and influence of the time period.) She also flushed out a false mystic and brought the woman to repentance.… (mere)
