I really enjoyed this book. I think that many students will stray from it though because of its "antique" look. Christopher Columbus is a major topic in all schools. Learning about him was probably my earliest memory in school, other than just playing around. Christopher Columbus' name is mentioned a thousand times within a persons lifetime and that is why we have to make sure that students are familiar with him. I would do this book as a read aloud and have a history lesson with it. I would teach the history of the discovery of America and teach them the rhyme "Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492."
