The main reason I enjoyed this book so much was for the illustrations. This book creates a dream like feeling while you’re reading it, and the illustrations are a big contribution to this. The moon is drawn so bright and vividly, and I think children would really enjoy the detail in the pictures. The writing is really engaging and dream like. It might be a good book to read to children before bed because the language create a tired dream like feeling for the reader. Even though the story feels a little serious, there is still a good amount of humor incorporated into the plot. The plot is well organized and easy to follow. This book would also be good to use in the classroom. The overall theme is a dreamlike day, and the message is the importance of being home. I really enjoyed this book. The moon follows a girl home one day and hides in her backyard. What is a girl to do? She is to walk and play on the moon of course. The morning never comes and strange things began happening sleepy eyes, yawning mouths, and water in the back yard. She learns in school that the moon controls all kinds of things such as tides because of gravity. She knows that she must let the moon go so, she does. The little girl is still able to enjoy the bright and vibrant moon after it leaves her backyard, but now everyone can enjoy the moon’s beauty. This provides a valuable lesson that beauty is best appreciated if it is shared with others. The illustrations are beautifully done. Even though the colors used are dark in tone, there is so much vibrancy. This book is best used in the classroom when studying the cycles of the moon. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

The sleeping streetings, the yawning townsfolk, and the moon itself are lyrically depicted. I feel like the story could be a bit stronger, but still a good book overall. ( )
