With her sister in tow and the help of Kay, a retired Shelley scholar, Clara embarks on a search for the author's long lost journals and letters. Clara Fitzgerald was told since she was a child that she was a descendant of Mary Shelly but since Mary Shelley had no children what is their connection. Her fiancé, a scientist on the verge of a medical breakthrough, does not have time for silly things unless his research skills would be required. Could some long lost letters shed some light onto the life of the prolific writer?
It was a quick read that kept my attention! There is a bit of romance at the heart of the novel but it is more than just that. It jumps back and forth between present day and the time of Mary Shelley – neither is as simple as it seems especially present day—is there a Frankenstein on the loose? I would recommend this book for a light escape that still requires a bit of using your brain! ( )
