Eh. It's an okay story, but it didn't grab me, and isn't quite appealing enough to take up any more of my reading time. I read the first few chapters, and the last and just wasn't impressed. ( )

You would think any book that has Nazi werewolves would worth finishing. Unfortunately, this one has sat on my bedside table since April last year, unfinished. I made it to page 85, before putting it aside in boredom. Even the promise of a couple of young Jewish women, kicking scumbutt arse, and changing the course of history would be tantalizing. But the girls didn't capture me and even having the Angel Raziel come in on their side hasn't encouraged me to pick it up again. We'd been hoping that this might be an antidote to the Twilight frenzy the granddaughters are in, but I don't think it will capture their imaginations the same way. (shudder).

I really wanted to like this book, but....

I saw the author's Big Idea piece and immediately put it on my TBR list. It has an amazing premise, and she wrote very convincingly about it. However, after I started reading the actual book I put it down and could not bring myself to finish before it had to go back to the library. ( )

The premise made me really want to like this book - the Jewish history, the mythological foundation, and the strong role of women in the story both past and present. However, while I did like all these things about it, it didn't live up to my expectations. About halfway through I lost interest, and the writing, plot and characters didn't really do much for me.
