«Joseph Farwell Glidden of De Kalb, Illinois, invents barbed wire and begins manufacturing it almost immediately. Cows are not the least bit impressed with this invention. They think Joe could have put his talents to much better use.»
I guess you could call this a picture book: it's 275mm square and each spread has text on one side and a single image on the other. But the narrative is everything and it's very much a book for reading. An older child – especially one who's already been exposed to some of the basic history it contains – would likely enjoy it for the amusing perspective and quirky additions not normally covered in world history. Many of the artworks make witty references to historical styles/artworks.
