Blockhead is easily one of my favorite mathematics children's book. As an adult I had no idea of Fibonacci's sequence, which is genius. Blockhead is about the life of one of the greatest Mathematicians that gave us a unique sequence of numbers as a way to count while using a humorous and conversational tone. D'Agnese definitely had me engaged into his book and kept me curious about what was happening next in Fibonacci's life. ( )

Very interactive! After getting through the entire book I got to the last page and it was a scavenger hunt activity. It was so engaging, and it made me realize all of the things I overlooked through the book. I loved the hidden spirals or how the little details to math was added in. Reading the endnotes about how people didn't know much about Fibonacci and understanding how much of the story was made up I still thought highly of the book. Very interesting. ( )

Blockhead: The Life of Fibonacci, tells the story of the famous mathematician and how he came up with the sequence named after him. It explores themes of perseverance, hard work, and the value of travel and learning from other cultures. The illustrations are interesting and evokes the artwork of Fibonacci's era. The book does a good job of making connections between math and the real world. Overall, it is an enjoyable book that would be a good read-aloud. ( )

I recently watched the tv show Touch, where a ten year old has the gift Fibonacci had and uses the sequence to communicate instead of speaking. This book reminded me of the little boy on the series and the way no one understood how their minds processed things different. "Math loves nature too" Fibonacci says in his book. I loved seeing the spiral pattern in everything as the texture of the illustrations ( )

A young boy is also being called Blockhead because he "daydreams" all the time. Does he daydream? Or is he thinking and constantly learning. This story takes you on an incredible invention about Fibonacci and the Fibonacci sequence which is still taught in schools today. In the story it is broken down with rabbits and can understood more easily than a verbal explanation. I believe this book can be used in any classroom because it covers a diverse range of subjects, such as; math, science, English, and even history. ( )
