This is a more simple chapter book great for 4th - middle school age students. It follows a girl who is a genius that can remember everything but chooses to hide it so she doesn't come off as the weird girl. It is a great book that supports students loving themselves and reminding them that a test score or grade does not define who they are as a person or even as a student.

This book is a very good book for kids who hate reading. I didn't like reading until I read this book. It is so interesting you just want to keep reading. ( )

Nora Rowley is a genius but prefers that people not know because she wants to be treated fairly. Her parents and her school put an unhealthy emphasis on grades and when she got to fifth grade this was far more prevelent. The began to take standardized testing that segregated the "smart" kids from the "dumb" kids and she didn't believe this was fair. All grades and test scores were doing were making people feel bad about doing poorly. Her best friend Stephen and her decided that it was time to show her teachers and parents that grades aren't the ultimate determiner of intelligence. She decided to purposely get all D's on her report card and Stephen told all of his classmates to purposely fail their next history exam. These two actions gained support from some teachers after Stephen and Nora were able to explain what their cause was.
