This book had the potential to rate higher but it couldn't really figure out what it wanted it's plot to be about. First you think 'wow this guy really has the hots for this woman, he's gone to great, even absurd, lengths to get her.' Then you find out that no he doesn't want her. He's just using her to get control of her stepdaughter. Then you realize that the conflict has nothing to do with either of those situations. It seems to be about her hating his job. So he's going to divorce her. Because he doesn't really love her obviously. At least it was pretty obvious to me. There were a whole lot of WTF moments where I seriously wondered WTF. It didn't make a whole lot of sense. The hero never showed he loved her or said he loved her. He just divorced her when she couldn't handle his race car career. I wanted to read about a man who was so crazy for a woman that he paid $10 million to buy her from her husband, not whatever that mashup of weird ass plot thing I just read. So in the end she goes crawling back to him begging and he condescends to take her back. Big of him. ( )

From the very beginning the reader is intrigued by the handsome Christiano who has definitely set his sights on Samantha. As this story continues you can’t help but be drawn to Sam and her lovely step-daughter Gabby. One feels sorry for both as they have been taken advantage of by Johann whom all believe to be Gabby’s father.

Johann, the evil man that he is, wagers both Sam and Gabby in a card game in Monte Carlo and of course, looses. From there on, the storyline takes twists and turns and keeps the reader on the edge of her seat.
This is just another example of how Jane Porter takes her readers to beautiful countries and entertains her readers with a very powerful story.
