The story begins with the narrator, relating the decision of the unnamed protagonist (who represents the reader) to leave town. The protagonist travels through several geometrical and polychromatic landscapes and places, eventually encountering a place simply called "The Waiting Place", which is ominously addressed as being a place where everyone is always waiting for something to happen. It is implied that time does not pass in the Waiting Place. As the protagonist continues to explore, spurred on by the thoughts of places he will visit and things he will discover, the book cheerfully concludes with an open end. The same classic Dr. Suess books with a little something extra. I couldn't NOT investigate a Dr. Suess pop-up book. The same positive theme of adventure, with a touch of a slight morbidness, while reminding to take caution. The pop up was a nice touch, and it was like a renovation of one of my childhood favorites. Dr. Seuss is definitely one of my favorite children's authors, and this book is one of my favorite Dr.Seuss books. It is a fun, rhyming story that appeals to people and children of all ages. The message is very positive and the words that are used are very thoughtful. The Dr. Seuss world is always an interesting place to see, and the words he uses capture your attention. I think this book would be great for a poetry lesson, since the story is basically one long poem. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Personal Reaction: I love this book. It is one of my absolute favorites. I have a copy of this book at home and I won't let my son touch it or read it by himself because I don't want it to be ruined. This book is so motivational and amazing, I would recommend it to absolutely anyone.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1) We could write uplifting and positive notes to classmates or other people that work in the school (janitor, lunch lady, principal, counselor, other teachers, etc.) that show our appreciation for them
2) We could write or talk about what we want to do in the future
