This is a Morganville novel. You have to read them in order, as it's basically one big story. However, I'm enjoying the story immensely. ( )

Rachel Caine does it again...once more she delivered an incredible Morganville adventure with all its trademark elements, and still shows no sign of slowing down.

Returned to Morganville after their escapades in the outside world, Claire and company are trying to settle back in; as much as you can in Morganville, anyway. Claire is fixated on helping Myrnin fix the portals and the central computer that controls so many aspects of town life. But when a chance bug in the system causes unforeseen consequences in the form of memory loss, Morganville is about to experience a level of crazy beyond what is "usual."

I liked seeing Myrnin back in this novel, although not always in the persona we know and love. He's still an amazing character and one of my favorites though. More highlights include suspenseful and shocking clashes between Amelie and Oliver, the return of some characters we haven't seen in a while, and the central conflict of memory loss. That last one really drove home for me how much I've come to care about these characters; it was downright painful to watch the slow disintigration of memory and its consequences when you've gotten to know these people so well. We certainly get to see the Glass House four interact in a way they never have before, and somehow it just makes their bond stronger and more touching.

With these great plot ideas and consistantly great characterization, humor, and romance, I can't wait to see what the author comes up with for Bite Club! ( )

This volume in the Morganville series might possibly have had the most emotional affect on me. Without giving too much away (I hate spoilers in reviews) imagine if the people around you were slowly forgetting they even knew you! Vampires may be scary, but I think that would just be so horrendous to live through. The story really pulled at my heart and invoked a very emotional response. I felt my heart breaking along with Claire and it was a very real feeling...as if it was me living through that. It's a talented writer who can get a reader to truly feel that connected to their characters. With each installment I seem to like this series, this world and it's characters even more. ( )
