This inspiring story, now with and Spanish text, of the Shoshoni Indian woman who guided Lewis and Clark, is aimed at children in grades 1-2 who are beginning to read independently. Illustrations on each page spread and lively language should capture readers' attention.

Overall, I felt this was a good informational story on Sacagawea. First of all, I enjoyed the plot of the story. I found it interesting to read about the topics and events the author chose to include in this story. For instance, I enjoyed the part where she met her brother after such an extended period, to find out that he had become chief. Secondly, I enjoyed the illustrations seen throughout the story. There is a good mix of real pictures and then various paintings. For instance, they showed a photo of an actual photo of the Sacagawea statue in Portland, Oregon, but also showed a painting of the first time the group of Lewis & Clark met an Indian tribe on their travels. The third part of the story that I enjoyed was the diction of the author. I felt the author did a nice job of keeping the story on reading level, but using descriptive words to inform the reader about Native-American culture. These words included tepes, Cameauhwait (name), and Shoshone (tribe). In the end, I felt the main message of this story was to inform readers about the life of Sacagawea and her contributions to the Lewis & Clark explorations.
