If I were to go on an adventure with a dragon, I would want it to be this one! I loved the light airy storytelling and the whimsical illustrations that accompanied it.

This book has a fabulous plot with a young boy as the main character. It engages the fantasy mind and pulls together creative touches that introduces children to a chapter book format without losing the love of pictures. Children are able to fully dive into plot at each turn of the page. ( )

My son and I's third read along book. It is the same lovable story as the first one. My son really love it. It is constantly the topic of our conversations. He also said he wants to buy the next one right away. It is a hit in our house so 4/5 stars! ( )

This is the second book in the [b: My Father's Dragon|34898|My Father's Dragon (My Father's Dragon, #1)|Ruth Stiles Gannett|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1438398138s/34898.jpg|3217669] trilogy. The first book was one of my favorites as a child, and I never knew there were sequels until I finally decided to review it here on GoodReads. To my delight, this sequel was every bit as sweet and entertaining as the first entry. The artwork was even just as pleasing. While this book did not have the same nostalgic quality as the first to me, it still brought me along on a brilliant adventure with Elmer and the dragon I love so well.

This book picks up immediately where the last ends, with Elmer and the Dragon on their quest to return to Elmer's home. On the way they encounter a treacherous storm which blows them completely off course. They find themselves on Feather Island, the place all canaries go when they are lost or fly away, and discover the island's terrible secret. Every canary upon it is dying of the worst possible plague... curiosity! Naturally, Elmer decides to help out.

The book is incredibly sweet and entertaining. I can imagine reading it to a child, and would have thoroughly devoured it the same countless number of times I did the first. There is a sweet innocence to it that is difficult to describe but immediately recognizable the moment you see it. I loved this book, as I did the first, and I can't wait to meet [b: The Dragons of Blueland|962781|The Dragons of Blueland (My Father's Dragon, #3)|Ruth Stiles Gannett|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1331484805s/962781.jpg|3197160] now that the Dragon himself is about to return home.
