Corduroy (1968)

This picture book is about a teddy bear named Corduroy who is displayed in a department store window. He is missing a button so no one wants to buy him, and he decides to look around the department store for one when it closes at night. The next day, a little girl ends up buying him and sewing a button on him herself. I remember reading this book when I was little as well and I think it teaches about friendship and acceptance. This would be great for an ELAR classroom in an upper elementary class. ( )

The book tells the story of a teddy bear named Corduroy, who is displayed on a toy shelf in a department store. One day, a young girl named Lisa arrives at the store with her mother and spots the bear. She is eager to buy him, but her mother refuses to spend more money and notices a button is missing from his overalls.

I chose this book because it teaches students not to judge things by their appearance. I think sometimes students are fast to judge a book by it's cover in a lot of thing and not just books in general. this is a super cute story that I remember reading when I was younger. ( )

This book is about bear named Corduroy. A little girl sees him through the shopping window and wants to take him home but her mom says no because he does not look new since he is missing a button. This leads corduroy to leave his place once the lights go off. He goes on an adventure to find his lost button. He wakes up back in his window to the girl from the previous day. He finally got taken home. This book is really cute and I think it shows that even when you aren't perfect, there is always that one person who is going to cherish you. ( )

This story is really good to share with kids about friendship and hope. Corduroy is teddy bear left on the shelf with one button until a little girl, Lisa, finds him and wants to take him home. ( )
